John Patten – Chairman

John is a professional Non-Executive Director and private investor. John started his career as a Chartered Accountant, becoming the Managing Partner of Price Waterhouse in Adelaide, Australia. He left the firm in the late ‘80’s to run Independent Grocers, a grocery wholesaler, taking the organisation from a co-operative to a major listed company. After Independent Grocers was acquired by Davids Holdings, John became MD of the listed Davids group and built the business to become Australia’s leading grocery wholesaler with a turnover of in excess of AUD1b. In 1996 John was diagnosed with cancer and left professional life. After making a full recovery he returned to business as a professional non-executive director. He has been or is a director of The Australian Wool Board, Harris Scarffe, Walker Corporation and Detmold Packaging. He has been a director of Readymix since 1998 and Chairman since 2008.

Nick is a founder and the Group Managing Director of Readymix. Nick started his career in 1985 as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in Sydney, Australia. He left the profession in 1989 to join his fathers’ Readymix concrete business in Adelaide, Australia, which was sold six months later to Adelaide Brighton Cement. Nick then turned his attention to South East Asia and has lived and worked in the region since, developing the Readymix Group.

Jon has been involved with the Readymix concrete business since 1994 when he joined the family business. Jon has held various positions for Readymix across South East Asia and is currently the Group Administration Director, a position he has held since March 2000. Jon oversees the finance, administration and IT functions of Readymix’s businesses in Asia.

Mr Kuah is the Group Chief Executive Officer of MTQ Corporation Limited, an SGX listed engineering services company serving the oil, gas and mining industry. A UK qualified chartered accountant by training with a university degree in mechanical engineering, he was previously a senior management executive of PSA International Pte Ltd where he served as CEO for South East Asia and Singapore Terminals as well as Group CFO. Prior to that he was CFO of Singapore Technologies Engineering, a major listed company on the Singapore Stock Exchange, and worked in senior management positions in Hong Kong and Australia.

Yap Chin Tek - General Manager, Brunei

Yap is the General Manager and also a Director of Readymix Brunei, a position he has held since May 1999. Yap is responsible for the overall operations in Brunei and he maintains a key role in the company’s business planning and development. Yap has acquired extensive knowledge and experience in concrete technology over the past twenty years.

David Andrew Gangell – General Director, Vietnam

David joined the RCV team in August 2011 from Holcim Ltd, a world leader in cement, concrete and aggregates. David has over 20 years experience in the construction materials industry and was most recently the Commercial Director for Holcim’s Hungarian business, having responsibility for sales, marketing, logistics, technical marketing and business development of cement, concrete and aggregates. Prior to this, David worked in Holcim’s headquarters in Switzerland as the lead of their global Performance Improvement team for concrete. David’s has had previous Asian experience in Indonesia where he was the General Manager of Concrete and Aggregate Operations for Holcim Indonesia from Feb 2003 until August 2006. David earned his civil engineering degree with honours from University of Tasmania, Australia, where he grew up.
